During Families Connect this week, we have been focusing on the importance of listening.
We talked about 'good listening' skills and 'bad listening' skills, focusing on how important listening to children is - for their learning, sense of being valued and their ability to come up with solutions to problems.
What can make us a good listener?
- Find the right time
- Show we are interested
- Ask open questions - these have longer answers
- Use eye contact, stay focused and be encouraging!
- Don't be dismissive
